Turkmenistan boosts oil production

The growth rates of oil production amounted to 102.8 percent in Turkmenistan for 11 months of 2014, the Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said.

The volumes of oil processing and production of oil products, including motor gasoline, diesel fuel, polypropylene, lubricants increased compared to the same period of last year.

At a recent governmental meeting, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his dissatisfaction concerning the activity of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries and ordered to take all necessary actions to successfully solve the challenges of the complex, Altyn Asyr national TV channel reported last week.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the capacity of the oil refining industry up to 20 million metric tons of oil in 2020, up to 22 million metric tons in 2025 and up to 30 million metric tons in 2030.

At present, the country annually produces about 10 million metric tons of oil, most of which is processed at local enterprises.
