Saudi Arabia, which is the largest OPEC’s oil producer and exporter, boosted wellhead output, while the country’s supply is decreasing, International Oil Daily (IOD) reported on June 21.

According to the new Jodi data (Oil World Database), Saudi Arabia’s wellhead production everaged 10.262 million barrels per day (bpd) in April, up 38,000 bpd and 42,000 bpd on March and February levels, respectively.

Total Saudi Arabia’s oil supply - comprising exports, direct crude burn at home and refinery intake - fell to 10.455 million bpd in April from 10.512 million bpd in March and 10.514 million bpd in February.

The country’s exports, meanwhile, fell by about 100,000 bpd to 7.444 million bpd, while direct crude burn at home rose by about the same amount to 501,000 bpd.

Saudi Arabia traditionally maintains production capacity of 12.5 million million bpd, although some 300,000 bpd usually produced from the Neutral Zone it shares with Kuwait is presently shut due to a dispute between the two sides, the IOD reported.

OPEC’s latests estimates showed that Saudi Arabia produced 10.241 million bpd of oil in May, which is 84,000 barrels bpd more than in April.

Total OPEC oil production in May decreased by 100,000 bpd to average 32.36 million bpd.
