Iran’s non-oil exports increase by 6.4 percent

Iran's non-oil exports (excluding condensates) surpassed $19.133 billion during the first seven months of 2014, indicating an increase by 6.39 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran exported some 46.617 million tonnes of non-oil goods during that period which is 4.9 percent more compared with the first seven months of 2013, according to the Iranian Customs Administration's latest report released Sept. 2.

Liquefied propane worth $1.225 billion, liquefied butane worth $881 million and iron ore worth $846 million, topped the list of Iran's exported non-oil goods.

Liquefied propane exports registered a 210 percent increase compared to the first seven months of 2013 in terms of value, meanwhile exports of liquefied butane and iron ore witnessed increase by 125 percent and 87 percent respectively.

The average price for each one tonne of Iran's non-oil goods in the mentioned period was around $410, which is 1.41 percent more than the previous year.

China was the main target of Iran's exported goods in the first seven months of 2014. Over 20.24 million tonnes of Iran's exported non-oil goods worth $5.363 billion went to China during the period, 7.3 percent and 39.12 percent more in terms of volume and value respectively compared to same period of the preceding year.

Iraq, the UAE, Afghanistan and India were other top importers of Iranian goods during the mentioned period. The countries imported $3.248 billion, $2.173 billion, $1.235 billion and $1.161 billion worth of Iranian goods, respectively.

The UAE's imports from Iran indicates an increase by 11.74 percent, meanwhile Iran's exports to Iraq and India has fallen by 10.54 percent and 15.37 percent respectively.

Iran's exports to Afghanistan also witnessed a decline by 22.55 percent during the period in comparison with first seven months of 2013.

Iran's non-oil goods trade balance (excluding gas condensates), faced a $14.416 billion deficit in the first seven months of 2014, compared to $7.795 billion in the same period of 2013.

The country's non-oil imports surpassed $33.549 billion in the seven-month period, indicating an increase by 30.14 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran's trade balance with 84 countries was positive, while with 93 countries it was negative.

Iran had the highest positive trade balance with Iraq($3.212 billion), Afghanistan($1.224 billion), Turkmenistan($424 million), Egypt($380 million), and Pakistan($286 million), while it registered the highest negative trade balance with the United Arab Emirates($6.313 billion), South Korea($2.299 billion), China($1.786 billion), India($1.716 billion), and Germany($1.414 billion).
