Georgian "Batumi Oil Terminal" has obtained the grand prize and has been awarded with special certificate in the nomination - "Innovative decision on ensuring ecological safety" at the VII international congress "Oil Terminal", which took place in Saint-Petersburg on November 27-28, 2012, the BOT reported on Monday.
On the same congress, Batumi Oil Terminal was also awarded with special certificate in the nomination - "Finalist - ecological safety".
"Batumi Oil Terminal carries on activities focused on mitigation of historic and current factors impact on the environment, and on efficiency and optimization improvement of environmental protection activities on every level and every work place of all production departments," the BOT said.
According to the BOT, in accordance with the environmental program, agreed with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Georgia, in recent years the company has worked out and conducted large-scale effective activities on upgrading of technological infrastructure, achieved successful results in decreasing of environmental emissions and improving ecological safety, implemented new technological facilities on oil vapor purification and sewage water treatment, permanently conducts assessment procedures of risk factors and provision of safe working conditions, implemented optimized quality management system, environmental management system, occupational health and safety management system, which comply with the requirements of the international standards ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OSHAS 18001:2007 and ISO 29001 - "Integrated Quality Management Systems".
The Batumi Sea Port is situated in the South-West part of the Black Sea. In February, 2008, the subsidiary of the Kazakh National Oil and Gas Company KazMunaiGas - KazTransOil, acquired the right of long-term management of Batumi Sea Port, as well as purchased Batumi Oil Terminal.
