In order to improve Azerbaijan's fuel and energy complex even more, eight main directions were determined in the country's socio-economic development concept for 2014 and the next three years.
According to the document, the main goals for improving the fuel and energy complex are: search and exploration of new deposits; widespread use of innovative technologies in the sphere of oil and gas production, attraction of discovered fields to large-scale development, drilling of new and rehabilitation of old wells in the fields already under development, the use of new techniques and technologies to improve the oil-bearing ratio.
The concept also envisages: improving the system of production, transportation and processing of oil and gas; development of oil and gas transport infrastructure for its more active participation in regional projects; the beginning of construction of Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline to ensure the gas transportation from the Azerbaijani gas condensate field "Shah Deniz" through Georgia and Turkey to Europe; improving the automated metering of oil and gas and computerized control and information networks for the optimization of control over the processes of production and transportation of oil and gas; expanding the use of scientific and technological achievements and advanced experience in the field of oil production.
In turn, the development of the oil and gas complex seeks to reinforce the country's energy independence and national security, improvement and reconstruction of oil and gas processing petrochemical complex, the intensification of export-oriented oil and gas activities, increase the export potential of primary and secondary oil and gas resources and other purposes.
