Azerbaijan's thermal power plant (TPP) has generated around 3.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in the first half of 2014, Azerenergy JSC said on July 16.
Azerenergy JSC, which is engaged in production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan, accounts for 40 percent of the total volume of electricity generated in the country.
The Azerbaijani TPP generated some 1.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-June 2013.
The power plant generated some 361.48 million kilowatt hours of electricity in June, versus 437.1 million kilowatt hours in June 2013, Azerenergy said.
Azerenergy JSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan.
The capacity of electricity energy generation system of Azerbaijan has increased by 30 percent over the past five years. At present, the figure is 7,105 megawatts, which produces annually about 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, which in turn allows the country to export annually 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.
