By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

A specialized settlement and financial center will be established in Kazakhstan, Samruk-Energo JSC Deputy Chairman Kanysh Moldabaev told Trend.

Moldabaev said the center will purchase electricity generated from renewable energy sources.

Moldabaev also said that at present, a wind power station with an installed capacity of 45 megawatts, with the possibility of increasing it to 300 megawatts, is being built in Ereymentau town in northern Kazakhstan.

Moreover, the first solar power station with a capacity of two megawatts was built in Kapshagay city in the south of Kazakhstan.

The planned annual volumes of electricity generation at a solar power station hit 3,600 kilowatt/hours.

As for the transportation of electricity obtained at these facilities, according to the law, the owners of these power stations must build a power transmission line (PTL) to the nearest point of connection to the main PTL. It may belong to the power distribution companies or KEGOC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company).

"The issue of state or enterprise owners' financing the PTL construction from the renewable energy enterprises is being considered," Moldabaev said.

Besides the rich hydrocarbon reserves, 60 percent of the territory of Kazakhstan has the potential for using the energy of sun, wind and rivers.
