Iran will soon be holding massive Air defense drills "Velayat-4", the Commander of Khatam Al-Anbiya base Farzad Esmaili said, Fars reported.
Esmaili noted that the drills will be conducted simultaneously in 8 provinces of Iran - North Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, South Khorasan, Sistan & Baluchestan, Kerman, Hormozgan, Yazd and Fars.
Esmaili also pointed out that the drills would be supervised by the Khatam Al-Anbiya base, while Iranian army, IRGC and Basij forces would jointly participate.
Answering the question whether these massive drills are to prepare a possible defense against attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, Esmaili said those facilities are being protected via hidden layers.
"The upcoming drills will feature from 50 to 70 different types of tactics," Esmaili said. "However they will not be conducted as exercises against possible nuclear facilities attacks."
Iran has previously held "Velayat 3" drills in 2011, where an array of of fighter jets, fighter bombers, cargo and transportation planes, including F-4, F-5, SU-24 fighter-bombers, Mig-29 and the logistic C-130 planes were showcased.
