Iran exports $2M worth of glass to Azerbaijan

Iran annually exports about $2 million worth of various types of glass to Azerbaijan , Mahmoud Mahboubian, managing director of Iran 's Sahand Industrial Group said.

Sahand Industrial Group is one of Iran 's five glass producer companies. The holding is consisting of eight factories which are active in glass production and its raw material industry in Iran .

Over 27 percent of Iran 's glass demand is supplied by the group, Mahboubian told Trend Nov. 27.

The company exports its products to Central Asian countries as well as Russia , he said, expressing readiness to supply Azerbaijan with glass raw material- soda ash (sodium carbonate) as well.

"Exporting soda ash was already banned by Iran 's administration and was permitted two months ago, and company plans to add the product to its export basket," he said.

Mahboubian also expressed readiness for establishing joint glass producing factories in Azerbaijan .

Iran's trade balance with Azerbaijan stood at $450 million in the previous Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20.

The Islamic Republic Customs administration reported that the country's exports to Azerbaijan surpassed $482 million, meanwhile Tehran imported $32 million worth of goods from Baku in the mentioned period.

Trade turnover between the two countries surpassed $293 million during the 7-month period from March 21 to Oct. 22, 8.44 percent less compared to the same months of the preceding year.

Iran exported $279.28 million worth of goods to Azerbaijan during the period, which indicates a fall by 8.91 percent year on year.
