Iran’s weekly fuel consumption decreases

Iran's total liquid fuel consumption including diesel oil and fuel oil stood at 523.9 million liters in the week to April 3.

Some 347 million liters of diesel oil and 176.9 million liters of fuel oil were consumed in the country in the time period, the Iranian oil ministry's official SHANA news agency reported April 6.

April 1 with 67.4 million liters, and April 2 with 16.5 million liters recorded the highest and lowest rate of diesel oil consumption in the mentioned week.

April 2 with 39 million liters, and April 2 with 14.5 million liters also recorded the highest and lowest rate of fuel oil consumption in the week to April 3.

Average daily diesel oil and fuel oil consumption in the mentioned week stood at 49.571 million liters and 25.271 million liters respectively.

Iran has reduced the supply of liquid fuel to power plants as it plans to replace liquid fuel with natural gas.

Over 50 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to the country's power plants last fiscal year(ended on March 20), 15 billion cubic meters more compared to its preceding year.

The supply of liquid fuel to power plants was decreased by 1.8 billion liters in the past Iranian fiscal year.

Over 83 percent of total electricity output in Iran is generated in thermal power plants, fueled by diesel oil, fuel oil and natural gas.

The country used 1,271 billion cubic feet of gas, as well as 28 billion liters of gas oil and fuel oil for power generation during the fiscal year, ended on March 2014.
