EU exports to Iran increase by 8%

The European countries exported over 13.51 million metric tons of goods, worth $10.9 billion to Iran during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended on March 20).

The Islamic Republic's imports from the Europe registered an increase by 68.7 percent in terms of volume and 8.4 percent in terms of value respectively compared the preceding year, the Iranian Customs Administration said in its annual report.

The EU countries shared 20.75 percent of Iran's total imports in terms of value during the 12-month period.

Asian countries maintained their dominant share of 77.25 percent from Iran 's imports during the last fiscal year. Tehran imported some 26.41 million metric tons of goods, worth $40.54 billion from Asian countries during that period.

The mentioned amount is 7.5 and 4.9 percent more in terms of volume and value respectively, compared the preceding year.

Iran's imports from North and South America witnessed an 11.8 percent fall during the period and amounted to $790 million. The Islamic Republic imported over 892,000 metric tons of goods from the continent - 17.8 percent less year on year.

Tehran's imports from Oceania (391,000 metric tons) and Africa (32,000 metric tons) also registered an increase by 2906 percent and 88.8 percent respectively in terms of volume during the period in comparison with the preceding year.

The country's imports from Oceania stood at $190 million, while the African countries exported $69 million worth of goods to the Islamic Republic during the period, 153 percent and 96.2 percent more respectively year on year.

The Islamic Republic's non-oil exports (excluding condensates) stood at $35.74 billion, while imports accounted for $52.477 billion.

Iran's overall non-oil trade turn over including condensates stood at $102.22 billion during the period.
