Two phases of the giant gas field of South Pars in Iran have hit a new production record, according to Alireza Ebadi, manager of phases 20 and 21.

Gas output at the phases 20 and 21 has surpassed 27 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d), Ebadi said, Mehr news agency reported January 11.

While about 18 mcm/d of gas is sent from these phases to the refinery, about 9 mcm/d of gas is sent to the national distribution network from the first sweetening row of these phases, Ebadi explained.

The third sweetening row of these phases will go on stream by early February, he said, adding the second sweetening row will be operational in two months.

The phases 20 and 21 of South Pars are meant to hit the final production of 50 mcm/d of gas, 75,000 barrels of gas condensate per day, 400 tons of sulfur per day, 1 million tons of ethane per year and 1.05 million tons of liquid gas per year.
