By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

Iran is seeking free trade with five member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), says Qolamhossein Shafei, president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture.

Iran has been in talks for preferential tariffs with these countries and the final goal is to reach free trade deals with them, he told Mehr news agency March 29.

He pointed to Russia as an attractive market for Iranian businessmen and said that suitable land, sea and air transport infrastructure is available to help Iran improve trade with Russia.

“Russia is considered as having great potential for Iran’s private sector in a variety of aspects,” he noted.

The EEU is an economic union of states located primarily in northern Eurasia. The five members of EEU are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Armenia.
