Iran imports $43.6B worth of goods in 1 year

Iran imported 33.4 million tons of goods, worth $43.648 billion during the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).

The figure indicates a 5.16 percent increase in terms of value compared to the same period of preceding year, the Iranian Customs Administration reported Mar. 30.

Corn fodder worth $1.413 billion topped the list of Iran's imported goods during the 12-month period.

After corn fodder, soybean worth $909 million, cars with engine capacities between 1500 -2000 cc worth $893 million, car parts worth $782 million and rice worth $690 million were among other main imported goods of the Islamic Republic in the last fiscal year.

The average price for each ton of Iran's imported goods in the mentioned period was $1308, which is 10.66 percent more than the previous year.

China was the main exporter of goods to Iran in the mentioned period. Iran imported $10.753 billion worth of goods from China in the 12-month period.

After China, the UAE ($6.407 billion), South Korea ($3.46 billion), Turkey ($2.738 billion) and Germany ($2.537 billion) were other four biggest exporters of goods to Iran.

Iran’s imports from Germany witnessed an increase by 29.2 percent during the 12-month period, meanwhile China’s exports increased by 2.6 percent.

The Islamic Republic’s imports from the UAE, South Korea and Turkey also witnessed fall by 17.5 percent, 6 percent and 8.3 percent respectively.
