Relations and economic cooperation between Libya and the West can be restored if the West says its position toward Libya was incorrect and cancels the 1970 resolution, Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi said in an interview with the RT Arabic television channel .

"If the West apologizes and admits it was wrong, then good relations and economic cooperation can be restored," he said.

Libya has seen mass unrest against the Gaddafi regime from Feb. 15. The people are protesting Gaddafi, who has ruled the country for 40 years. Libya is divided into the Gaddafi-controlled west and the rebel-controlled east. Arab and Western media report bombings and peaceful demonstrators and settlements. The number of the dead has hit 3,000 people. The Libyan authorities have categorically denied the use of force against unarmed civilians.

However, Gaddafi said Western companies may return to Libya, but the priority in economic cooperation will always be given to Russia, China and India.

"We no longer trust the West," he said. "That is why our allies will be Russia, China and India in the oil industry, construction and investment."
