The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry is monitoring forests in the Oguz and Ismayilli regions to prevent illegal felling, Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told journalists today.
"Immediate measures will be taken against forestry workers committing violations," Bagirov said.
According to the official, an incident of illegal timber sales was uncovered a few days ago in the Ujar region.
"The fact is under investigation, and those committing the felling will be punished," Bagirov noted.
At the same time, Bagirov said the number of illegal felling cases has decreased dramatically compared to previous years. The minister said this contributes to the gasification of many regions.
