Execution is a proper work in Iran, because BBC criticizes this act, Iranian Justice Minister Morteza Bakhtiari told Mehr News Agency of Friday.

"We must doubt the work which BBC compliments," he said.

Morteza Bakhtiari, whom the European Union sanctions were imposed on Oct.12, noted that BBC and other hostile media outlet keep an eye on any constrictive and successful step taken by Iran to make society safer and try to provoke Iran as much as they can.

Four offenders accused of gang rape were hanged the Iranian Khomeini Shahr city in the Isfahan province on Oct.12.

Human Rights Watch tallied 388 execution cases in Iran in 2010, while Amnesty International put the figure at 252, ranking Iran second only to China in the number of people put to death last year.

Tehran says the death penalty is essential to maintain law and order, and that it is applied only after exhaustive judicial proceedings.

The EU issued fresh sanctions against three Iranian ministers and 26 others who were charged on violating human rights.
