Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan expressed wish on Monday that, in order to resolve the Palestinian issue, the Arabic world must act as a whole, reported World bulletin.

Babacan held a tete-a-tete meeting with the President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas in Egyptian city of Sharm el Sheikh on Monday within the framework of a conference held in support of the reconstruction of Gaza.

Babacan stressed the importance Turkey attaches to the reconstruction of Gaza and reminded Abbas about various campaigns held in Turkey in support of Gaza, told Burak Ozugergin, Spokesman of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

"We are in touch with all groups. We support Egypt's efforts in eradicating differences between Palestinian groups. Resolving the Palestinian issue requires the Arab countries to act as one," Babacan said.

Babacan stressed that Turkey supports all efforts that would promote the peace process in the region.

Upon Babacan's request, Abbas gave information to Babacan on the meetings of Palestinian groups in Egypt.

Abbas said that "Turkey is doing the right thing. Turkey has contributed not only to the Palestinians but the whole population of the region."

"We are working on a 'Road Map' and a solution based on two states," Abbas told Babacan in their meeting.

Abbas reminded Babacan that the Palestinians want an end to the seige imposed on their territory.

Ali Babacan is expected to deliver a speech at the international conference in Sharm el Sheikh and hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of several countries.
