Iran wants Japan to help building more nuclear plants in the country, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, Japanese NHK TV reported on Jan. 6.

Araqchi went on to say that he believes Iran and Japan can work together to build facilities that generate electricity.

"Japan obtains one of the most advanced technologies in nuclear energy and exports them abroad," he said. "There are good prospects for Iran and Japan to cooperate in the construction of nuclear power plants."

Araqchi underlined that Japanese leaders are aware of the idea, and it will become one of the key issues linking the two countries.

Iranian leaders hope to generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity with nuclear energy.

Araqchi is leading Iran's negotiations with 6 major powers on his country's nuclear program. He said Iran's leaders hope to reach a final agreement with west on the country's nuclear issue by November.
