Kazakhstan will take measures to provide the fired employees of Ozenmunaygaz and Karazhambasmunaygaz companies with new jobs, Kazinform reported.

The country's government plans to make changes in the Employment-2020 program in this regard.

The process of providing fired employees with jobs will cover two stages. The first and the second stages will cover 900 people each.
Kazakhstan's government plans to offer jobs to fired people in big mining or oil and gas companies with salary of 80-90 percent of previous ones.

The government also studies the option of compensating transportation and other expenses as well as providing fired employees with houses.

Since May the Mangistau region has repeatedly experienced strikes by oil companies' employees, demanding higher wages. The court found the protest action illegal. The firms dismissed thousands of workers for striking and absenteeism. Some of the strikers returned to their jobs and new staff were hired in the place of those dismissed. The companies stated that oil production volume may drop because of the protests during the year.

On Friday mass riots took place in the Kazakh oil town of Zhanaozen in the Mangistau region which killed 14 and injured about 90 people. President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree to impose a state of emergency in the area from Saturday.
