Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov and his Afghan counterpart Dr. Zalmay Rassoul discussed the main directions of developing bilateral relations and prospects of further trade, economic and investment cooperation, the Kazakh Foreign Minister reported.

In particular, the parties discussed implementation of joint projects in the field of railway transport, mining, agriculture, disaster management, telecommunications and energy.

Moreover, the Foreign Ministries of two countries exchanged the views on key international problems, regional security and situation in Central, South Asia and Afghanistan in particular, withdrawal of international security forces in 2014.

Within the meeting Kazykhanov and Rassoul signed a memorandum.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov is on official visit to Afghanistan at the invitation of the Afghan party.

Within the visit Kazakh Foreign Minister also met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Speaker of the Parliament Abdul Raouf Ibrahim and other officials.

Within the visit Afghan President stressed Kazakhstan's important role in the region and its stable and progressive economic development. Moreover, he expressed hope that Astana would play a significant role in the process of resolving the situation in Afghanistan and urged to continue developing the relations between the two countries.
