Tashkent, Kuala Lumpur hold new round of political consultations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan hosted another, the third round of the Uzbek-Malaysian ministerial political consultations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

The Malaysian delegation was headed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Datuk Mohd Radzi bin Abdul Rahman.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of Uzbek-Malaysian dialogue and noted the similarity of the two countries' positions on major international issues, the overall vision of challenges of economic, social and ecological order, and ways to overcome them.

Both sides exchanged views on the bilateral agenda, including cooperation in multilateral format, some aspects of the global and regional issues, reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached in the previous political consultations held in December 2010 in Kuala Lumpur.

The parties expressed their mutual interest in the development of long-term cooperation in trade, economic and investment cooperation, reaffirmed readiness to deepen relations in the cultural and educational fields.

Currently there are 22 joint ventures with the Malaysian capital in Tashkent, operating in the oil and gas sector in the field of printing, trading, electrical industry.

The volume of investments from Malaysia as part of the Public Investment Program of Uzbekistan exceeded $225 million, the Foreign Ministry said.

The bilateral meeting was attended by Malaysian Ambassador Abdul Aziz bin Harun.
