New reports have confirmed that Khamis Gaddafi, the son of the former oppressive dictator Muammar Gaddfi, found dead in Beni Walid. Earlier Saturday, some news outlets in Libya reported that Khamis was captured alive, Voice of Russia reported.
Fireworks and car horns have filled the night on Saturday as people celebrated the news.
It is expected that the government will make an official statement regarding the emerging developments in the country.
A large number of fugitive pro-Gaddafi elements have been reportedly captured.
Khamis was a commander of the Gaddafi forces during the Libyan uprising last year and participated in the killing of the civilian protesters in Zawia, Tripoli, Misurata and other Libyan cities and towns was well known for his brutality and crimes.
His most feared brigade, named the Mechanical 32 Brigade, played a major role in the suppressing of the uprising and also committing many war crimes.
Khamis has been reported dead many times during last year's conflict but he always turned out to be alive.
Early this year it was reported that his doctor has also been captured and that Khamis was still alive with an amputated leg.
