The Hungarian and Greek foreign ministers agreed to hold an EU summit on Turkey after meeting in Budapest.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi, whose country will chair the EU from January 2011, discussed the EU's future and Turkey's membership in the organization with his Greek counterpart Dimitris Drutsas.
The sides agreed that during Hungary's presidency in the EU, initiatives will be taken to revive Turkey's EU membership process, which has recently experienced stagnation.
Martonyi once again called for full support for Turkey's EU membership.
His Greek counterpart said that after the elections in Turkey, Ankara should again sit down at the negotiation table.
Drutsas added that after the elections, a special EU summit on Turkey should be held.
According to the two ministers, the EU will reaffirm its promises concerning Turkey's EU membership during the summit, and Turkey will assure that it will fulfill its obligations.
