Georgia, Tbilisi, March 9 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

Organisations representing the campaign 'It Concerns You' on March 9 will appeal to the Georgian presidential administration, parliament and foreign ministry. In their appeal, media and non-governmental organisations will urge the government to invite a long term OSCE mission, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and other democratic institutions to monitor the pre-election situation within the shortest possible time.

"The mission should ensure a qualified and impartial monitoring of elections not only in the two-month pre-election period, but for the entire election year," the campaign 'It Concerns you' said in its statement.

Two groups consisting of representatives of NGOs and media organisations will send the appeal to the Presidential Administration and Foreign Ministry at 15:00, after which they will visit parliament and hand over the petition to the office.

At the same time the campaign's participant countries will send the appeal to the Secretary General of OSCE, the organisation's democratic institutions, Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), 'so that they send a long-term observation mission to Georgia which will help in holding free and fair elections in the country'.

It should be noted that in his annual address to parliament, President Mikheil Saakashvili said that he wants to see observation missions of as many international organisations as possible. Parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held this autumn.
