The KaztransGas-Tbilisi Company appointed its new special manager. It is Irakliy Gabuniya. On Friday the new manager was presented to company staff by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Geogia Ilia Eloshvili.
Until now Gabuniya worked as Deputy Director General of SOCAR Georgia Gas. Previously the post of manager of the KaztransGas-Tbilisi Company was occupied by Ani Taktakishvili.
The reasons for Taktakishvili's resignation whose mandate had been extended until June next year is not known.
Taktakishvili was recently accused of the company's using plastic pipes intended for the water network, for gasification of the city.
The special manager appointed by the Georgian side has run the KaztransGas-Tbilisi Company since 2009. He was given the post on the decision of the Georgian authorities because of resulting debts to the state budget to the sum of $40 million.
According to the Deputy Minister of Energy of Georgia, despite the fact that the interim administration extended until June 1, 2014, as soon as the Kazakh side are able to cover the debt, it will be able to manage KazTransGas-Tbilisi and the special manager from Georgia will be recalled.
"We have already taken the appropriate decision and proposed to Kazakhstan to set up a working committee as the transfer of the company is a complex process. We are awaiting a response and are ready to talk," Eloshvili noted.
