The road through the Dariali gorge that leads in the direction of Russia will be restored in about two weeks, the president of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili said live on "Imedi" TV.
The fast recovery of infrastructure is also the case, he noted.
Due to heavy rain late in the evening a landslide occurred again in the gorge. Two people who were working in the tunnel are missing. George Margvelashvili went to Daryal gorge Aug.21.
"The flooding was more extensive and the weight of the landslide was heavier when I was here in May", he said. "We were able to restore the road for three weeks that time. Today, it will take about two weeks," said Margvelashvili.
Georgian President is pleased with the alarm system installed in Devdoraki after the landslide in Daryal gorge in May.
"The useful part that we have learned from the last case is the fact that the tools of preliminary notification installed in Devdoraki inform the border and the Interior Ministry," Margelashvili said. "This system worked then and resulted in the closure of roads above and below. Therefore there are no such large-scale casualties as before. Now two people are being sought," Margvelashvili added.
About a thousand vehicles, mainly trucks traveling from Armenia to Russia are on the border between Georgia and Russia.
