Paul, the psychic octopus that gained near star- status during the World Cup for correctly predicting Germany's results, as well as the result of the final, will be going nowhere, DPA reported.
Earlier Thursday British media said that Madrid's Zoo Aquarium was willing to do whatever it took to get the octopus to Madrid after it correctly predicted a Spanish win against Netherlands in Sunday's final.
A spokesman for the Zoo Aquarium said they were prepared to offer the Sea Life Centre Oberhausen, where Paul is housed, "whatever they demand".
The Guardian newspaper said that the deal would involved a cash- plus-animal transfer and that the octopus would be treated "with tender loving care" because of his national treasure status in Spain.
The spokesperson for the Sea Life Centre Oberhausen, Kerstin Kuehn however said that Paul was staying in Germany. "Under no circumstances will Paul be sold, or lent out abroad. He won't be leaving Germany."
Paul obtained near cult-like status during the World Cup and his prediction for the final was televised live.
Earlier Wednesday it was reported that a Brazilian software developer has turned the idea of Paul the octopus into an app for the Apple iPhone.
