President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili arrived at the disaster hit city of Telavi last night.
The president created an on-site headquarter to clear up the aftermath of the disaster.
The president instructed local authorities to eliminate the consequences of the disaster as soon as possible with the assistance of the ministries.
As a result of the disaster the Telavi city in the Kakheti region in Eastern Georgia was mainly affected.
In addition to rain and hail, a hurricane also hit the city and as a result, the electricity and water supply to Telavi was cut. The hurricane blew off the roofs of almost all the high-rise buildings and local theatre. Extensions of several buildings and a hotel where a film shooting team from Bollywood worked remained intact. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Today Telavi will host a meeting of the Georgian government which will discuss ways to address the consequences of the disaster.
