Georgia and the EU will sign an association agreement in Brussels today. The agreement will be signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, president of the EU Council of Europe Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso.

The heads of governments of all 28 EU member-states will attend the ceremony. The Georgian delegation includes Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze, Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, State Minister for European Integration Alexi Petriashvili and Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani.

Georgia will first sign an agreement. Then Moldova and Ukraine will sign a similar agreement.

The Georgian foreign ministry called the signing of the agreement as historic. It promises Georgia comprehensive free trade and visa liberalization. But, this is only the beginning of Georgia's integration into the EU, according to the Georgian side.

The signing of the association agreement between the EU and Georgia will be marked in Tbilisi.
