At least 26 people have been killed and more than 76 wounded in a series of bomb blasts across the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, the Iraqi National News Agency reported late Monday, dpa reported.

The deadliest of the seven attacks was south of the city, where at least nine people were slain and 20 wounded, the agency said.

Two of the blasts hit mainly Sunni Muslim areas, while the rest targeted Shiites including Jadida, Hurreya and Bayaa.

No group claimed responsibility for Monday's attacks, but similar previous bombings against Shiite areas were blamed on al-Qaeda Sunni groups seeking to undermine the Shiite-led government of Nouri Maliki.
