Two specialized sergeants have been abducted by an armed group in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The armed people were among those who were protesting the construction of a gendarmerie post in Abalı village. The protesters blocked a main road between the provinces of Diyarbakır and Bingöl.

The group detected two soldiers when they conducted an identity check on a bus that was stopped on the road due to the protest. They left the scene after kidnapping the soldiers.

Security forces have launched an operation to capture the armed men and rescue the soldiers.
