Opposition Not to Govern Country Jointly with President – Georgian Political Scientist

Georgia, Tbilisi, 21 January / Тrend corr. N. Kirtskhalia / The leaders of the Georgian opposition parties will reject President Mikhail Saakashvili's proposal to unite in governing the country, expert David Darchiashvili said to Trend on 21 January.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on 20 January, President Saakashvili said that he would do his best to provide solid participation of the opposition in governing the country.

According to Darchiashvili, he does not believe that the opposition are united in their opinion of the suggestion, but regardless the aggressive opposition is unlikely to agree to the cooperation. The Unified Opposition, the Rights and the Labourites will reject the President's proposal. The opposition will probably urge for the establishment of a coalition government, and that will be inadmissible for the majority. Therefore, the Government will include the governing political authorities and non-party professionals.

With regards to the Government and the opposition, Darchiashvili noted that their cooperation will be possible in the further establishment of the election administration or at the Justice Council.
