The global economic crisis will not have a negative impact on the Azerbaijani economy owing to the country's potential and resources, member of parliament and Appraisers Society head Khanhuseyn Kazimli said at the Realities of Azerbaijan in the Global Financial Crisis conference.
"The ongoing crisis will have an impact on all nations throughout the world, but countries with certain potential, such as Azerbaijan, will be able to cope with the situation," Kazimli said.
Azerbaijan's enormous potential is its natural resources, unused mining capacity, manufacturing and light industries and the further development of its agricultural sector, he said.
"Statements that the crisis will have an adverse impact on our country are unfounded. Adequate actions by the state are necessary. Azerbaijan has the opportunity to avoid being negatively impacted by the crisis," Kazimli said.
