Azerbaijan, Baku, August 25 /Trend, V.Mammadov/

Japanese ambassador to Azerbaijan Masamitsu Oki visited on Wednesday the country`s Tovuz region.

Oki met Tovuz Governor Tofig Zeynalov who informed the diplomat about the region`s economic and tourist potential.

Ambassador said that this is his first visit to Tovuz and noted that the nature of Tovuz region is very similar to the nature of Japan. According to him, political, economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Japan are at a high level.

The Ambassador then visited the Alley of Martyrs and a complex of monuments Gala. Member of Milli Majlis Ganira Pashayeva told the Ambassador that Azerbaijan has always been attacked by foreign aggressors, and in the last centuries the territories of Azerbaijan were taken by force were given to neighbouring countries.

The ambassador attended the inauguration of a medical point in Girzan village of the region which was built as part of the "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program".

The Ambassador also visited Alibeyli and Hajialli villages and met here people who were injured as the result of Armenians` violating ceasefire. He also visited the Goytepe historical monument.
