Azerbaijani and Czech cultural figures to meet in Baku

The Czech delegation, headed by Director General of the National Library of the Czech Republic Tomas Bohm and Director General of the National Museum Michal Lukesh will pay a working visit to Baku on September 12-16, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan Čeněk Heiney said.

The Czech delegation, headed by Director General of the National Library of the Czech Republic Tomas Bohm and Director General of the National Museum Michal Lukesh will pay a working visit to Baku on September 12-16, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan Čeněk Heiney said.

Azerbaijan and Czech representatives will discuss the full range of inter-cultural and historical relations between the two countries, in particular the development of cooperation between national libraries and museums.

The Czech delegation will meet with director of the Azerbaijani National Library Kerim Tahirov and director of the Azerbaijani National History Museum Naila Valikhanli. The meetings are planned to be held with the representatives of the Ministry of Culture. The sides will discuss the working text of the memorandum on mutual cooperation.

The current visit is based on the agreements reached at the previous meeting of cultural figures between the two countries. The meeting was held in Baku in April within the intercultural dialogue. The Czech delegation was headed by Culture Minister Jiri Besser during the first visit.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Czech Republic were established in 1993. The embassy of the Czech Republic has been operating in Baku since December 2009.

The current bilateral relations develop in many spheres, including a political dialogue, economic cooperation and communication in education, tourism and culture.
