Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov 29 /Trend H.Veliyev/

Five out of 30 internet service providers in the country have voiced their readiness to deploy broadband Internet in the regions on the basis of state operator Aztelekom's infrastructure, Aztelekom told Trend.

Aztelekom did not name providers.

Providers appeal after a thorough assessment of their capabilities.

Many providers fear to do business in the regions with concerns of reimbursement of their investment.

According to Aztelekom, there is need for broadband services throughout Azerbaijan. If providers are to attract a number of potential users in different regions, including in remote areas, it will be their permanent source of income.

"Providers' initial investment and benefits that Aztelekom offers for deployment of Internet services in major cities like Sumgayit, Ganja, and on the Apsheron Peninsula in whole will allow them to reimburse their capital in a short time," said in Aztelekom.

It is necessary to lay fiber-optic line which length is more than 3,500 kilometers. State operator is ready to take on a certain part of the construction of this highway, and providers should undertake the remainder of the construction. Aztelekom, in turn, is ready to grant exclusive rights to Internet service providers, such as bringing traffic service providers to the final destination, technical support, etc.

Certain services offered by providers of industrial association, are free, some are offered at discounted prices. All these create suitable conditions for business expansion of internet service providers at the regional level.
