The intellectual transport management system in Baku will regulate the time of traffic lights in the 'green wave' system, the intellectual transport management centre of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry told Trend on Thursday 'Green Wave' is an automatic traffic light control system.

"At present, the green wave system is already used on the main streets of the capital," the centre said. "It allows setting the connection between traffic lights."

At present, the reconstruction and modernisation of traffic lights is underway in the city of Baku. About 150 intersections of the city are equipped with a new traffic light device connected to the intellectual transport management system. Their number will be increased.

Traffic lights are equipped with timing signals and the devices are installed on city roads with heavy traffic.

Use of traffic light timers (green or red) increases the safety of pedestrians while crossing the carriageway.
