The European Commission in Brussels has analyzed the situation in Azerbaijan and marked the positive developments within the implementation of action plan between the EU and Azerbaijan, head of the EU office in Baku Roland Kobia told media outlets today.
"The EU has published a progress report that was adopted by the EC. The report is dedicated to the progress that has been made by all Eastern Partnership countries in the implementation of the action plan"-Kobia said.
Kobia said that according to the report, the positive aspects in Azerbaijan were macroeconomic stability, as well as monetary and financial stability, and reducing poverty.
"The trade turnover between EU and Azerbaijan, energy cooperation level, as well as fight against organized crime and terrorism were also positive," he said.
According to Kobia, the measures against corruption in the country continue but still lots should be done in this regard.
Kobia added that there are also several areas that EU recommends to improve, such as human right, independence of judicial system, the improvement of institutions of freedom of assembly and association, improvement of media freedom environment, and the legislation in the field of NGO.
He said that the EU together with the Venice Commission stands ready to help Azerbaijan in this regard.
"EU sees a progress in the country's efforts to join the WTO and believes in success in this regard.
The EU wants to strengthen relations with the organization's non-member countries and it will continue to help these countries,"he added.
