Relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary continue to develop as before and the note presented by the Hungarian Foreign Ministry to Azerbaijan on Ramil Safarov's case has not effected bilateral relations, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Hungary, Vilayat Guliyev said at the fourth meeting of heads of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in Baku on Friday.
"Despite ASALA's threats, the Azerbaijani Embassy continues to operate as normal, but with enhanced security measures," Guliyev said. He stressed the evidence of good relations between Hungary and Azerbaijan at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission scheduled for October in Budapest.
"The Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary continues to receive letters threatening Azerbaijani diplomats that were transmitted to the country's relevant agencies for investigation," Guliyev said.
The document, received on Sept.3 by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary from the ASALA Fighters terrorist organisation, calls as a target Azerbaijani diplomats, Azerbaijani students studying abroad, businessmen, activists of diaspora organizations and the states they will be killed.
The Hungarian government earlier condemned Azerbaijan for releasing officer Ramil Safarov, who was extradited by Hungarian authorities to his homeland, Dow Jones reported.
Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, convicted in Hungary, returned to Azerbaijan on Aug.31. On the same day he was pardoned by the presidential order.
