The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Protection of Consumers' Rights under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan revealed the use of illegal advertising affecting the freedom of choice of consumers in advertisements of Blend-a-med toothpaste, Oral-B toothbrushes and Always-Ultra feminine sanitary pads and applied a fine against the company which authorised the advertisements, ENGİN Ltd., a financial sanction of 1,784,484 manat, the Ministry of Economic Development reported in a statement released on Tuesday.
In view of these violations the State Service instructed the producer of these advertisements ENGİN Ltd. which is the local distributor for Proctor and Gamble to suspend its advertising, and commenced a suit for breach of competition law against the company.
'In the course of the proceedings it was revealed that the company submitted incorrect data to the investigation. Considering this fact and the use of advertising affecting the freedom of choice of consumers, ENGİN Ltd. was subjected to a financial sanction of 1,784,484 manat', the statement says.
