The State Administration for Radio Frequencies (SARF) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan has installed stationary equipment for monitoring frequencies in points of Centralized radio monitoring system in Baku settlements of Mehdiabad and Yeni Guneshli, SARF told Trend on Monday.

Azerbaijani IT-company Sinam is the supplier of the equipment (made in the USA) and the services. The contract with this company was signed in December 2012.

SARF said that currently, works on the installation of mobile equipment are being carried out. According to the schedule, the technical works on the installation of the equipment will be completed before late 2013. The budget of the project on construction of the Centralized radio monitoring system for 2013 is seven million manats.

"This is just a part of the works, implemented under the project. The construction of a fully automated monitoring system will require additional funding. The equipment will be installed in Sahil settlement. Overall, it is envisaged to set the stationary equipment for monitoring, mobile equipment and a control centre as well as additional software in Baku and Absheron peninsula," SARF said.

The radio monitoring network will allow receipt of high-frequency radio signals, identify illegally used frequency signals and provide control over the frequencies intended for civilian use.

The construction of the monitoring network also envisages the organization of radio control over broadcasting, creation of an information database that reflects the technical parameters of the broadcasting stations in the country, which, due to the geographical terrain can affect the air space of the country.
