By Aygun Badalova - Trend:

French company Arianespace is preparing proposals for the launch of Azerbaijan's second satellite, Chairman and CEO of Arianespace, Stephane Israel told journalists on Feb. 1.

He said a tender will soon be announced for satellite remote sensing of the Earth. The company's proposals include the satellite launch, as well as services for assisting the financing and risk guarantees.

"We are ready to continue our cooperation with Azerbaijan which started last year," Israel said.

Arianespace was founded in 1980 as the world's first commercial satellite launch company. One of its shareholders is the 'Airbus Defence and Space'. The number of customers throughout the world exceeds 85.

Azerbaijan's first telecommunications satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1a was sent into orbit in February 2013 aboard Ariane 5 ECA rocket carrier of the Arianespace.

The launch of a remote sensing satellite is scheduled for 2015, according to the plan of Azerkosmos Joint-Stock Company (JSC).

The company conducted research on the benefits of low orbit satellites in the domestic and foreign markets.

Azerbaijan's satellite operator is preparing a business plan for the potential implementation and use of space radar and optical images both in Azerbaijan and in the markets of the regional countries.

Azerkosmos JSC regularly negotiates with organisations that may become potential buyers of satellite images. The ongoing negotiations are informative in nature and designed to create a fertile ground for future cooperation.
