Azerbaijan's athlete Valentin Demyanenko won silver medal in men's canoe single event (200 meters).

Demyanenko, who covered the distance in 40.142 seconds, was left behind Lithuanian rower Henrikas Zustautas by only 0.078 seconds. Zustautas won the gold medal, while the bronze medal was grabbed by Martin Fuksa (the Czech Republic).

In men's kayak single event (200 meters), the Azerbaijani athlete Mirnazim Javadov covered the distance in 37.492 seconds and couldn't win a medal.

Miklos Dudas (Hungary) won the gold medal in this event. (35.132 seconds), while the silver medal was grabbed by Petter Menning from Sweden (35.576 seconds). Edward McKeever (UK) won the bronze medal (35.774 seconds).

In women's kayak single event (200 meters and 500 meters), Azerbaijani athlete Inna Osipenko-Rodomska failed to compete for the medals and ranked 6th and 5th, respectively.

Azerbaijan's athletes Mirnazim Javadov and Inna Osipenko-Rodomska will continue their performances in kayak single events (5,000 meters) June 16.

The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
