Azerbaijan has created all necessary conditions for the development of gymnastics, Natasha Wegscheider, Austrian gymnast, told Trend.

"The first European Games in Baku are really important," she said. "This is the new trend in sports. I am very pleased with my participation in the competition as part of the Austrian team."

The gymnast said that the first European Games have been organized at a very high level.

"All necessary conditions have been created for us in the athletes' village," she said. "The National Gymnastics Arena, where the competitions have been held, is wonderful. It is very comfortable here. The atmosphere is great. The fans are supporting the athletes. It is very inspiring."

Stressing that there are strong gymnasts in Azerbaijan, she said that the country pays great attention to this kind of sport.

"Azerbaijan has created all necessary conditions for the development of gymnastics," she said.

Emphasizing that this is not her first visit to Azerbaijan, Wegscheider said that she likes Azerbaijan very much.

The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28. There are 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
