The role of the non-oil sector in the expansion of relations between Italy and Azerbaijan is gradually increasing, the Italian ambassador in Azerbaijan Giampaolo Cutillo said.
He made the remarks Oct.21 at the opening ceremony of the 21st Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition BakuBuild, 8th International Exhibition for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Water Supply, Sanitary, Environmental Technology and Swimming Pool and 8th Caspian International Protection, Security and Rescue Exhibition.
"Italy is one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan," Cutillo said. "We have very developed relations in the oil sector, and we are interested in further expanding relations with Azerbaijan in non-oil sector as well, and the construction sector is one of the areas of interest for us."
The interest of Italy in cooperation in this area is confirmed by the fact that in 2016 the Italian national delegation will be represented at the BakuBuild exhibition in a large format, said Cutillo.
This year nearly 80 Italian companies participate in the exhibition, while last year their number didn't exceed 70, according to the ambassador.
"I am also very pleased that this year the number of Azerbaijani companies increased at the exhibition," the ambassador said. "This exhibition plays an important role in establishing contacts and developing relations between our countries."
