Branch of Azerbaijani Int’l Bank searched by police

Police of Russia's Saint Petersburg have visited the St. Petersburg branch of the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA-Moscow) to get archived documents regarding one of former clients of the bank, head of the press service of the International Bank of Azerbaijan Yadigar Jafarli told Trend Dec.17.

He said that at present the St. Petersburg branch of the bank continues to work normally and no problems in its activity are observed.

Russian media reported that on Dec.17 morning, employees of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Central district and police of the Economic Security Department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region came with a search warrant to the branch office of the IBA-Moscow bank in St. Petersburg.

Russian media reported that the criminal case, within the framework of which these activities are carried out, is connected with the illegal withdrawal of funds abroad.

IBA-Moscow bank (general license of the Bank of Russia No. 3395) was founded in 2002 and is a subsidiary of the International Bank of Azerbaijan OJSC.
