President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti will visit Azerbaijan in June 2016, Azerbaijan's economy ministry said Feb. 15.
Chakrabarti made the remarks during the meeting with Azerbaijan's economy minister Shahin Mustafayev in London, according to the message.
The EBRD president said that he attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan and supports the ongoing reforms in the country.
"The measures being held in Azerbaijan are very important and positive," said Chakrabarti.
In turn, the Azerbaijani minister said that business and investment opportunities of Azerbaijan will be presented to investors within the framework of the EBRD regular annual meeting to be held in London May 11-12, 2016.
Throughout the cooperation with Azerbaijan, EBRD has allocated 2.8 billion euros to the country for implementation of around 161 projects.
One of the main tasks of EBRD is to ensure a stable development of Azerbaijan's non-oil sector by investing in the small and medium-sized private enterprises.
Azerbaijan is the largest recipient of EBRD funds in the Caucasus, as well as one of the largest recipients of this organization's funds in the CIS and Eastern Europe.
