Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR carried out drilling operations in the volume of 42,490 meters in Jan.-May 2016 versus 43,920 meters during the same period of 2015, SOCAR's message said.
Some 42,224 meters out of the total drilling work carried out in Jan.-May 2016, accounted for production drilling, and the rest 269 meters- for exploratory drilling.
Nineteen new wells were commissioned during the reporting period.
In 2015, SOCAR carried out drilling work in the volume of 105, 410 meters, which is 17.2 percent less than the same figure of 2014.
Over 104,400 meters out of the total drilling work carried out in 2015, accounted for production drilling, and the rest - for exploratory drilling.
SOCAR includes companies producing oil and gas both on land and in the sea - "Azneft" production association, the chemical industry enterprise, combined the company "Azerhimiya", "Azerigaz" - which deals with the distribution of produced gas in the country, oil and gas processing plants, service companies, institutions for geophysical and drilling operations.
