The interest of the EU member states in the project of creating a logistics transport corridor in Azerbaijan is obvious, Fuad Iskandarov, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the EU, Azerbaijani ambassador to Belgium, said in an interview with Trend.

He said that the transport projects are a key element in the EU policy.

"Among the Eastern Partnership countries, no country has such an interaction with neighbors as Azerbaijan,” he said. “The country has specific opportunities to create transport corridors with a way to Central Asia, Asian markets. Our European partners are very pleased because it creates an opportunity for new corridors in the West-East and North-South directions.”

“During the recent visit of the EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn to Azerbaijan, he visited the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat settlement,” he said. “In his statements, Hahn stressed that Azerbaijan has serious prospects for creating a logistics transport corridor connecting Europe with Asia.”

"As the Azerbaijani ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, I see that the interest of the EU member states in this project is obvious," Iskandarov said.
